Alpenglow Mountain Festival

Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City presents the second annual Alpenglow Mountain Festival from June 21st through June 29th. The festival includes outdoor activities as well as movie presentations and athletic product demos. It's all free and open to the public and geared towards a wide range of abilities.

The goal of the Alpenglow Festival is simple: Getting people out there to appreciate not only the beauty of this place we all love, but to enjoy the power of your body to move through it. And as an added bonus, it's an opportunity to meet others who are also interested in enjoying the outdoors.

Here are a sampling of a few of the activities:

Take a Hike: A series of interpretative hikes guided by knowledgeable folks will take you to Shirley Canyon, the Rubicon Trail, and on the incredible section of the Tahoe Rim Trail that heads right out from Tahoe City. You can hike on Donner Summit to learn about geology, to Eagle Lake to be taught how Lake Tahoe was formed, and Blackwood Canyon to be enchanted by wildflowers

Run with an Ambassador: You can join in one of several runs with sponsored athletes, including a women's only run with local Kara La Point.

Morning Stretch: Or how about practicing yoga in the morning outside at the Commons Beach with one of our favorite local instructors?

For the Birds: Join local bird expert Will Richardson for a hike to discover the excitement of Tahoe birds.

Watch one of these incredible presentations:

Wednesday, June 25th be inspired by "Solstice-A movie of the Western States 100 Endurance Run" which documents a woman's first attempt at this incredible challenge. A few days later, you can get up early and watch the start of this years Western States 100, where folks begin their run from Squaw Valley to Auburn.
